As Americans seek to earn green cards, a growing number of them have applied for green cards based on their BAHama visa.
The number of people applying for greencards based on BAHamas health visas rose to 4.4 million from 3.4 in January, according to data from the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services.
The most popular reason people apply for BAHams for employment or education purposes is to obtain a greencard.
In November, Trump ordered the Department of Homeland Security to increase the number of greencards available to green card holders from the current 2,400 to 3,000.
That increased number of BAHam’s will be phased in over the next five years, DHS Secretary Jeh Johnson said.
Those in the United States without green cards need to obtain green cards for their spouses and children to obtain visas for those living in the country legally.
